DXF Viewer Online
Open a DXF file right in your browser. Turn layers on and off, zoom in, check the real size, then export the drawing to SVG, PDF or PNG. No AutoCAD, no sign-up, and the file never leaves your computer.

How to open a DXF file online
Drop the DXF
Drag a .dxf file onto the box above, or choose it from your computer. Large drawings open in a few seconds.
Look around
Drag to pan, scroll to zoom, double-click to fit the whole drawing. Hover to read X / Y coordinates. Untick a layer to hide it.
Check the size
The panel shows the drawing's width and height, its units and its extents, so you know what a laser cutter or CNC will see.
Convert DXF to SVG, PDF or PNG
Every export uses only the layers you have switched on, so you can drop the dimensions or construction lines first.
| Format | What you get | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| DXF to SVG | Vector lines and text, one SVG group per DXF layer. If the DXF has mm, cm or inch units, the SVG gets that real width and height. | Cricut, Glowforge, Inkscape, Illustrator, putting a drawing on a web page |
| DXF to PDF | A vector PDF on A4, Letter or A3, scaled to fit, or at actual size (1:1) when the units are known. | Printing, sending to someone without CAD, measuring on paper |
| DXF to PNG | An image up to 8000 px on its long side, white or dark background, colors or black only. | Previews, documents, chat messages |
Going the other way? To turn a logo or photo into a DXF for a laser cutter, use the free PNG to DXF converter, then open the result here to check it.
What this DXF viewer shows (and what it doesn't)
It reads text (ASCII) DXF files saved by AutoCAD (R12 through 2018 and later) and by the other CAD, vector and laser programs that export DXF. It draws the model space:
- Shown: lines, polylines and lightweight polylines (with arcs), circles, arcs, ellipses, splines, points, solids, text and multiline text, block inserts (nested and arrayed), attributes and dimensions.
- Not shown: hatch fills, images, 3D solids and meshes, and paper-space layouts. The panel lists anything it skipped, so you're not left guessing.
- Dashed and dotted linetypes are drawn as solid lines, and line weights aren't used.
- Text is drawn in Arial, because CAD fonts aren't available in a browser. Position, height and angle are right; letter shapes differ.
- DWG and binary DXF files can't be opened. Save them as ASCII DXF from your CAD program first.
FAQ
How do I open a DXF file without AutoCAD?
Drop the DXF onto this page. It is read and drawn in your browser, so you don't need AutoCAD or any other install. You can toggle layers, zoom in, check the size and export the drawing to SVG, PDF or PNG.
Is my DXF file uploaded?
No. The file is read by JavaScript on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it also works for drawings you can't share.
Can it open DWG files?
No. DWG is AutoCAD's closed format. Save the drawing as DXF from your CAD program (File, Save As, DXF) and open that instead.
Will the SVG or PDF be the right size?
If the DXF says its units (millimeters, centimeters or inches), the SVG gets a real width and height in those units, and the PDF can be printed at actual size. If the file has no units, scale it after import.
Why does the text look different from AutoCAD?
CAD fonts (SHX and custom TrueType) aren't available in a browser, so text is drawn in Arial at the right position, height and angle. Lengths and shapes are exact; only the letter shapes differ.
What is a DXF file?
DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) is a text-based CAD format made by Autodesk so drawings can move between programs. Laser cutters, CNC routers, plasma tables and most CAD apps read it.
